this is my public apology to thaumata, who I was kinda snarky to a second ago when she made a completely valid organization tip. unbeknownst to her, however, she actually gave me the answer.
turns out that I'm smarter than I gave myself credit for. my "safe place"? in the suitcase.
der.

Going to bed really soon. I kind of had a rough night last night. Way too much to drink. I had a good time though. You would have never guessed that people that have such perfectly groomed lawns would know how to party. I think that block party was crazier than some of the fraternity parties I went to college. I had never heard of an ice luge and now I have seen two in the last two days! I danced quite a bit too. Oh my it was crazy. The best part about the party is that the kids had such a good time too. There was a ton of food too. From what I hear the people in the housing development throw in a hundred or so dollars to throw this party. People come from all over.
So yeah last night. Not good. I won't be drinking for awhile. J was disappointed because he still has quite a stash left specifically for my visit.
Today C and I went shopping. I did ok at first but I couldn't keep my stamina. I think I would have been able to recover quicker had I not already been sick. I am still not well from last week. After shopping we took EJ to the Japanese Steakhouse. He enjoyed that quite a bit. A little different than my favorite places at home though but still good. I love the Japanese Steakhouse. We actually sat with a little boy and his mom that we saw at the block party last night. He was adorable. We saw him dancing alot at the block party. I think he is 8 or so. He and EJ sat together. The mom asked to move since she recognized us from last night and the boys wanted to get to know one another.
That is the thing I noticed about Rhode Island. It is very family oriented. Most everyone knows each other too. I suppose that can be a good or bad thing. I am not sure since I haven't really had that. The only thing that was close for me is when I lived in Sumner.
I fly home tomorrow. In some respects my visit seemed to fly by but it also feels like I have been here awhile. I am going to be really sad to leave. I wish that C&J and the kids would move back. I miss them so much. I think tomorrow we are going to go the zoo and then take me to Boston to catch my flight. Like I said, leaving is going to be hard for me. :(

- battery charger for the SLR
- cord to connect SLR to the laptop found the cord, which, of course, is the less vital of the two.
fuck. how do I do this to myself? it's only made worse by the fact that I'm SURE that one day, a week or two ago, I thought "I'm really going to need this in spain! I'd better put it in a SAFE PLACE."
the only safe place for me, fyi, is taped to the front door. *facepalm*

Well, since it's my first post on this community, I chose two of my best drawings to show to you, artists, I don't expect everyone or anyone to like them but I would appreciate constructive criticism and eventually tips for how I could improve my skills. I can bare harsh comments as long as they're not rude nor agressive. =] But firstly, I'd like to say that I am pleased with this community. I loved the title, since I can't live without coffee because it's an essential thing for my state of mind. XD Anyways, here are some sketches.

I've neglected this journal for far too long. Yes, there has been the occasional flooding of dog pictures or running stories, but I haven't used this space much for me lately. I can tell by the number of posts the past couple of weeks that having time enables me to write for me.
And I use write in a loose way because I am not a writer and I have never claimed to me, or will I ever. I do this for me, and me alone.
With that said, I have told myself that I need to spend some time writing for me here. And to make more of this journal public again. The friends only entries started around October when I started living with my brother.
My reflective times in a year are going to be pretty limited since I won't be able to go back and read what I was doing during this time I haven't created too many entries.
And that will change.
While I read the book a while back, I finally watched the movie version of Into the Wild - as with most book to movie adaptations, the book was better, but the movie was still very good.
The movie did something that the book didn't though - the images I saw stuck with me longer than the images I had to read about in the book. I still remember talking to Dina, Joy and James about the appeal of just walking away from everything and going about your life on your own terms. It might just a certain kind of person to understand that appeal because none of them understood why someone would want to leave everything they knew behind and just go and be. I feel that more so today than before, that appeal is even stronger.
Now don't be getting the idea that I'm just going to walk out the front door and leave or something - I am hopefully too grounded to do something that drastic. This feeling, coupled with some of the things I was thinking about on Friday, specifically my birthday and getting away from everything, is more prevalent now.
I did some brief research the other day about some good ideas for a multi-day hiking/camping trip. Didn't come across anything concrete at all, just some vague ideas and plans. Right now the thought of walking somewhere one day, camping the night, and then walking back sounds amazing. I would have to be smart about it though - I'm not trained or experienced enough to be able to go anywhere, so I would have to make sure that I was still relatively close to people, and services, just in case something happens I won't be screwed. I've got a month and some change to figure this out. I would like to even bring Olive, but I don't know if that's possible really.
Besides, I still need a tent, a sleeping bag and Olive needs a backpack thing because she needs to lug her own water around.
Who knows - this is all just weird talk and thoughts right now.

Hello,
I've not posted on this forum before, so I thought I'd say hello and show you a sketch I've done today. Constructive Criticism always welcome, I consider myself to be an artist-in-training, and need all the help, encouragement and advice anyone can offer me!
This is a sketch from a photo a friend took, she was trying to photograph the clouds, only a duck flew in the picture just as she hit the shutter. Great Pic, I just had to draw it!
H, B, 2B and 4B Pencils on A5 Sketchbook.
Thanks for looking!

This morning I had a dream about a snack called sulaki-mulaki. It consisted of crunchy black pieces, with texture a bit like charcoal left over after a fire. I had eaten a couple of pieces when I discovered the nature of this food: it was the bodies of dried birds, and they crunched because of bird bones and also twigs. In most cases the pieces were just shapeless lumps of crunchy black material, but in a few a bird tail or a bird paw were visible.
On the other hand, last night, I had a daydream-turned-dream about Fionn making friends with a french mole who lived under a vast green field. The mole wore a beret, and had a secret screening room underneath the field. The mole and Fionn watched Brothers Lumiere films together there.
